PRAYER ALWAYS WORKS

   Posted by: mpier    in Uncategorized

Thank you Jesus for answered prayers. Here is an update from Lori on Lomosontfo after her surgery this week. Another answer to prayers from our incredible God. Thanks to all of you for lifting up this beautiful daughter of the King. I stand in awe at His love and goodness!!

God’s hands were all over Lomasontfo, the surgeons, and everyone caring for her yesterday.  After a 2 hour delay (waiting for anesthesiologist), waiting in the hallway outside the the OR, she was on her way.  She had been quite nervous, unsettled, however, during our wait I prayed with her and read scripture, she would fall asleep for a few moments then ask me to keep reading.  When it was time for her to go, she was so peaceful and calm – the power of the Word and all the prayer!

The surgery was about 6+ hours, 2 units transfused, with the exception of the external carotid Dr. Mohamed was able to do the entire procedure through the mouth (the expected incision under her jaw was not needed!  He is so Good!), 2 wires securing the jaw on the left side, femoral art line, ej, peripheral iv’s, foley.  Temp 37.9 before I left last night but they were treating.  She was awake when she went to ICU.  She recognized me, held my hand, and communicated needs as well as answered questions appropriately – of course, the 2 most important in that moment: something to drink and the toilet.  I will see her later this morning and Dr. Mohamed this afternoon.

Thanks to all of you for your support, guidance, and prayers these past months.  I have attached a few photos.  A few “silly faces” from the past week inpatient and post-op in ICU – lots of swelling, she looks quite different.

CAN WE PRAY??

   Posted by: mpier    in Uncategorized

Heres an update on my little friend Lomasontfo, one of our CarePoint kids from one of the most remote areas in Swaziland. Take a look at “Unexpected Opportunities” post from Nov 17th for some more background info on this precious child.

We are finally at the point of getting her into surgery to remove the growth from her jawbone and reconstruct the right side of her face in order that her life would be saved. All the doctors are on board…. maxiofacial specialist, vascular surgeon, plastic surgeon and pediatrician are ready to “fix her face” as she calls it. Its been just awesome to watch God work in all of the preparations that have finally led to this operation. He has been right alongside and provided the time, talent and resources needed to save the life of His daughter. All the preparations and evaluations are done for the surgery which will be done next week. They have allowed us to take her out of the hospital for the weekend so it will be great to spend some time with her and show her some new things about the world that she has never seen before. Even the bathtub in the hotel room was a new experience for her. She had never seen one!! Yesterday we taught her how to play “Go Fish” and really loved it. Was hard to get her to quit. A trip to the movie theatre, the zoo and a shopping mall should be quite the experience for her. She got her first trip to MacDonalds on a previous trip.  Too bad there are no Starbucks here, could get her really indoctrinated!!

I would ask that you please pray for her as this surgery approaches, ask all the prayer warriors you know to join in. This is quite an extensive operation, it will take 6-8 hours and recovery will be weeks. Please pray for peace for her, she has no idea what she is in for but I know she is frightened. We encourage her to pray and let her know that God is with her every step of the way. Pray for wisdom and supernatural strength and skill for the doctors as they remove her jaw and reconstruct her facial features. Pray for an amazingly speedy recovery, that she would suffer no pain as she heals.

And please thank God for His incredible grace and provision that has even allowed this to come to pass.

JESUS IN ZIMBABWE

   Posted by: mpier    in Uncategorized

I got to spend a few days last week with Pastor Dixon and his family. Ps. Dixon and his wife Chipo are pastoring our locations of Celebration Zimbabwe. Pastor Dixon is truly a special friend of God, I truly believe he models King David as “a man after my own heart” as God referred to David in Acts 13:22.

I am always challenged to move to the next level anytime I get to hang with Pastor D. Despite the hardship and turmoil that is Zimbabwe at the present time he is always upbeat and positive. I am constantly reminded of Romans 8:28 as we discuss the future and pray for Zimbabwe:

Rom 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
NKJV
“All things” is the phrase that screams at me from this verse. Yes….ALL THINGS. The situation in Zimbabwe may seem horrific right now, but the Bible say it and I believe it, in the end God is gonna have the final say and He is gonna turn this thing into something HUGE for His glory.

Here are some pictures from the Christmas parties we were able to host for thousands of Gods precious children in Zimbabwe. No, there is no meat to buy in Zimbabwe, so God uses one of His people to give us a couple cows to slaughter and feed the kids for Christmas. Normally chicken is a big treat, this year they got beef!!!! Just another example of how BIG our God is. Enjoy the pictures, all those smiles are because someone cares enough to give to the children of Africa.
